We continue to introduce you to our projects, and the next one is “Soul of the Soil.”

What lies beneath our feet? Soil is more than just dirt, but a living system that supports plant growth, preserves ecosystems, and shapes the ecological future of our planet. The “Soul of the Soil” project is an opportunity to immerse yourself in real scientific research and study soils in the real natural conditions of Yakutia. During the project, you will go through all stages of scientific research, from posing questions and developing hypotheses to analyzing data and presenting results. You will conduct field research on various soils, work with real soil profiles, collect samples, perform laboratory analysis, and study the living components of the soil.

Throughout this fascinating journey, you will be accompanied by two brilliant mentors. Gleb Babich, a graduate of the Faculty of Biology and the Faculty of Soil Science at Lomonosov Moscow State University, is a research fellow at Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (RUDN University). Maria Syomina is an expert geobotanist, biology teacher, and curator of the Ecopatrol project with extensive experience in field trips, expeditions, and environmental education.
